Winners Announced for Prestigious Ebrahim K. Kanoo Award for Engineering Excellence

Ebrahim K. Kanoo, the diversified business conglomerate, has announced the winners of the 2019 Ebrahim K. Kanoo Award for Engineering Excellence, which is held in partnership with the College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain to recognise the best final year project of mechanical engineering students.

The Ebrahim K. Kanoo Award for Engineering Excellence is part of the company’s commitment to bettering the lives of the youth of the country and helping them realise their full potential through academic and internship opportunities.

The winning team, comprising Ahmed Jaffer Saleh, Hamed Mohammed Radhi and Yaser Marzooq Al Boni, was chosen for their outstanding graduation project focusing on a unique water desalinisation process using solar energy.

Ebrahim K. Kanoo CEO; Mr. Mike Brightmore, and University of Bahrain President; Professor Riyad Hamzah, congratulated the winning project group at the graduation ceremony held at the University of Bahrain’s Isa Town campus. The group were handed their trophies along with a substantial cash prize, and a chance to work for the company.

“The Ebrahim K. Kanoo Award for Engineering Excellence was created to motivate innovation amongst the youth in Bahrain by providing them with an incentive to design projects that tackle and solve different issues within the field. We are proud to be awarding a new batch of brilliant students of the College of Engineering who have utilised their skills and knowledge to come up with beneficial projects” stated Mr. Brightmore.

University of Bahrain President Professor Riyad Hamzah discussed the partnership between Ebrahim K. Kanoo and the University of Bahrain stating, “Our partnership with Ebrahim K. Kanoo is aimed at empowering Bahraini talents through providing them access to the company’s wide range of resources. This award serves as a good example of how private sector companies can work with the academic sector to launch educational initiatives that push students to excel in their fields and recognise their efforts. We thank Ebrahim K. Kanoo and appreciate their unwavering support and commitment to improve the educational sector in Bahrain”.
