Security 1 Hosts Seminar on Smart Buildings and Smart Security

A seminar on “Smart Buildings, Smart Security – Trends and Challenges” was recently organised by Security 1, a division of Ebrahim K. Kanoo B.S.C.(c), at the Gulf Convention Centre in the Gulf Hotel.

The one-day seminar included technical sessions on UTC Fire and Safety, Building Management Systems, Biometric Technology and IP CCTV Systems, covering the latest in safety and security.

Sessions were led by top speakers from Security 1 and technology partners like Edwards, GST, Lenel, Johnson Controls, Touch-less Biometric Systems (TBS) and Avigilon, in addition to live demonstration of Security 1 products and solutions.

Ebrahim K. Kanoo Director, Mr. Waleed Kanoo, highlighted the importance of hosting such events in Bahrain observing, “We have seen a growing demand among corporations in Bahrain to modernise their existing safety and security infrastructure. Security 1 was established to satisfy this requirement through world-renowned brands that can help support local organisations stay abreast with the latest developments, avoid cyber threats and protect valuable data.

One of the main panel discussions touched on opportunities and challenges of developing smart buildings with smart security. Moderated by Security 1 General Manager, Mr. Ramgopal Menon, the session focused on the significance of futuristic smart buildings in the region, which can be seamlessly connected to smart cities leading to better quality of life through increased safety, productivity and green initiatives.

With the advancement and affordability of technology, the region is expected to see significant growth in smart buildings. New enterprise technology that support smart buildings is expected to lower cost of living, improve ROI on the building’s life span, enhance performance and functionality, automate monitoring and control, deliver superior occupant comfort, and increased and seamless safety and security.
